Alh. Mohammed Ibrahim Mami Tasks Cancer Patients to Seek Treatments Beside Faith

The Registrar/CEO of Health Records Officers’ Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN), Alh. Mohammed Ibrahim Mami made the call at the close of A two- day workshop organised by Health Records Officers Registry Board Of Nigeria in collaboration with MedicAid Cancer Foundation under the theme: ” Harmonizing Cancer Registry for Effective Data Collection Process in Nigeria Hospitals” October, 23rd-24th, 2018 in Abuja, he said that cancer patient should first seek treatments while spiritually havingl faith in God to perfect the healing.

“Although we all have religious believe that God will take care of us, people should not hold on to beliefs at the expense of seeking medical advice and treatments.” he said.
According to him,
the essence of the workshop was to forge ahead in terms of harmonising data collection processes within the Health Records Officers Practioneers. A forum to collectively look at the challenges and the ways to
design an efficient data collection process within the sector.
“The concept is to impact training and leaning to enable accurate computerized health information collection, that at end of the day help stimulate public debate on policy design as well foster reform that will mitigate into bill formation”
The Board Registrar went on to emphasis that the board core duty is to establish culture of excellence in Health information management practices, education, Research and training.
He believed the participants, who came from the different states will take home and employed all they have learnt into practice.

The National President of the Association Health Records Practioneers of Nigeria( AHRPN), Comrade Jerry B.O Nwani, speaking with the press at the event, called on Nigeria health conscious citizens, to go for early cancer screening periodically, to save their lives, costs and emotional turmoil.
“High costs of treating cancer are expensive so is cheaper to prevent cancer than treating it, plus emotional stress having it.
Early detection will save their lives and this can be achieved by undergoing periodic cancer screening”
The Union leader added, “People need to understand the various nature of cancer, the orthodox treatment available, and, for the fact that cancer could be cured if detected early should give people confidence to seek early and proper treatments.
He stressed further, that as much as faith based resort can help cancer patients spiritually, in healing processes, faith based remedy should not take position of actual treatments and that one have to seek treatments, take prescribed drugs so God can, through it healed the patient”, he advised.
