AMAC Vice Chairman, Lawrence Onuchukwu, Igwe Odezuluigbo 1 of Jibi Kingdom Preach Cultural Sustainance among Igbos in FCT and Beyond
The Vice Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Lawrence Onuchukwu has called on all Igbo people in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and all over the nation to embrace and promote Igbo Cultural heritages to sustain it for next generation, he made the call at the “The Maiden Edition of Enugu State Day In Abuja”
held on Saturday, in Abuja.

In particular, Onuchukwu pleaded with the Igbo community in Abuja and beyond to be committed in not only promoting their cultures but also unity among themselves, as it’s important for effective contribution to nation building.
“We are committed not only promote Igbo Cultures but to sustain Igbo Cultures and foster unity in the country, and that’s what we are doing today. I am here to give my full solidarity in what they are doing here, irrespective I am from Anambra state, Igbo is Igbo wherever we are. With these Our Culture can be sustained as you can see I am fully dressed in Igbo attire.
Culture promotes peace and unity so I am asking all Igbos to make sure they exhibit our cultural values -peaceful co-existence where ever they are,” he said.
Igwe Odezuluigbo 1 in a Press Chat
In a press chat with Igwe Dr. Sunday Nwozor, Odezuluigbo 1 of Jibi Kingdom, he asked all Igbos to embrace their rich cultural heritages and make sure they transfer it to their children, for its sustainace.
He says, “Culture for me as is very important as a person, traditional ruler and a custodian of Igbo cultural heritages norms and values.
Once we take this role( traditional ruler), we are committed to promote igbo indigenous culture in all we do. Today, we are not only celebrating our cultures but use this gathering to foster unity among ourselves,” HRH said.

Also speaking, President of Nsukka Town Union, Mr. Ngwoke Virginus Okechukwu, who siezed the opportunity to thank Executive Governor of Enugu State Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, (popularly known as “Gburugburu”) for giant strides happening in their state and assured him of their collective votes, come 2019.
” I have to start by thanking our governor Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi ( “Gburugburu”) is doing wonderful works in my state and what we will use to appreciate him are our votes. Our mandate to him is our collective votes. We have going around sensitising our men, women and children within the age brackets of 18yrs and above to get their PVC ready, is their rights. We don’t have any other candidate except him. He is the one we are projecting,” he said.
Culture in display
He emphasised further on event going on, he says,
” This event is not only for cultural festivals but for us to come together and know ourselves. This is the first of its kind. We are exhibiting how we cook foods in different villages of Enugu state. Apart from these displays you’re seeing, there comes the food presentation, they are to teach our children how they are being done. From my own personal assessment, this our first outing is very successful”, he affirmed.
