Establish Transport Bank- High Chief (Alh) Isiwele
High Chief (Alh) Musa Shehu Isiwele, Executive President of Road Transport Employers Association (RTEAN), made this call in a chat with Journalists in his office today, Tuesday, 8th May 2018.
According to him the establishment of this bank will enhance the association’s accessibility to funds.
” We need government intervention to enable us have an access to funds for total reformation of the sector. All sectors be it Agriculture( BOA) Education (ETF) Industry ( BOI) have their own banks, why don’t transport sector have their own?. The loan from the bank will enable us buy more motors which bring down high fare in transport now, and employ more workers, there boosting the employment level.” He said.
He went further to advocate for high ways and toll gates re-establishment, tired drivers could rest as most accidents aIre caused by sleeping and driving . Federal government should re-introduced toll gates, that will generate revenues for maintenance of the roads like other developed countries, so that we can shift from too much dependency oil revenue. This is as lucrative as oil we so much relied on,” He noted.
He opined that the Association being one of the largest employer of labour, government should intervene and ameliorate the situation by making funds available and other technical assistance to the association.
The high Chief ( Alh) Musa Shehu Isiwele stresses the need for more innovative projects for the association as he just started his second tenure in office making it 40years of him in transport businesses, he said the area of his concentration is acquiring permanent site for the union. He has already gotten a place and has a plan of two years to complete the proposed six stores building within two two-years, even if he didn’t meet the timeframe, at least four of the six will be available.
The Aigboje 1 Uromi kingdom who was returned into office, recently, unopposed which is a sign of competence on his part, throws overwhelming accolades to his sub-ordinates for their compliance and commitment to the goals of the association.
In his good will message at the West African Road Safety Organization (WARSO) 10th Anniversary Press Conference under the theme ” WARSO in the last ten years the journey so far” , he appreciated the good leadership quality of Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, The Corps Marshal Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and wishes that he will stays for another twenty- years for the benefit of road transportation sector.
