Groups Endorse And Plead Major Al-Mustapha (Rtd)To Run For 2019 Presidency
Groups from four geographical zones representing political groups from the Niger Delta, South East, North West and South West regions of Nigeria, have asked Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former chief security officer to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, to contest the 2019 presidency.
The group which held mega rally on thursday in Abuja, came together to request and encourag Mustapha, whom they see as only detribalized Nigerian with leadership qualities to lead Nigeria to a promised future.
Speaking to Olakunle Ife, who will be running for senatorial seat for Kaduna Central under the Green party comes 2019, has this to say, “This gathering is meant to beg Major, to come out and contest because we know he will deliver but the pain is, he seems to be dragging his feet. We have presently 29 group ready for him.
I am very optimistic he will beat down other presidential aspirants if he decides to run. Please, Major Mustapha, come out and declare open your presidency race, we have done many things to mobilise Nigerians across 36 states to vote you in”, he pleads.
In the same note, comrade Ayo Michael representing Green Party South West forum, declaring his forum passionate pleas for him to run as they have done intensive research and arrived at his candidacy.
” We are passionate on pursuit of making sure we have him as our Presidential candidate. Even when he suffered dehumanization during trial, he remains loyal. He has a high integrity records. He is the best man to heal Nigeria”, he affirmed.
Answering the questions fielded to him by press at his residence after the event later, Major Mustapha gave insight why he is not rushing into politics and where his passion lies if he eventual runs.
“I am not going to announce myself contesting for a presidential seat but if is the wish of the people whom I to refuse.
”I am not a power tasty person, if I am, I would have lost my personality long before now, but when people gather to speak and the decision is by them, then it is a call to serve but meanwhile I am busy consulting,” he said.
According to him, his focus is the protection of the right of Nigerians as provided under the law and that after due consultation, Nigeria and the world will know.
