In a collective efforts to cushion effects of harsh economic situation in the country caused by the political troubled situation in Nigeria starting grassroot level, New Management of ALL-PURPOSE SHELTERS-Developers of WUYE ULTRA-MODERN B.O.T MARKET, Wuye Abuja, have taken on its social corporate responsibility obligation to partner with Farmers and Bulk Purchase Traders of Nigeria to reduce the high cost of farm produce ( food stuffs ) such as – Yam, Rice, Tomatoes, Garri, Fish, Chicken as well Second Hand Clothes and shoes (Okirika) in Nigeria. This was made known to Media in by Prince Edozie Ugwu, NANTS Chairman ( FCT chapter) on Tuesday.
“We decided to open up this market – “Direct Farmers and Buyers Special Monday Market” to cater for increasing population of buyers and sellers who their daily operational businesses are being disrupted by security challenges at North East zone, the aim is to provide farmers and the affected businesses a free market space to bring their produce, and others to continue their businesses.” Prince Ugwu said.
In the same note the New Management and Facility Manager, Mr. Ken Onye, went further to emphasis the reason for such.
“As our Social corporate Responsibility obligation, we thought out ways to reduce difficulties traders and farmers are having in getting across their products to customers and as well what we can do to reduce the prices of these for Nigerians, we believe making provision of free market space for direct Farmers/Buyers Special Monday market for traders will solve some of the problems. Looking at the daily increasing FCT population and insurgency issues at North East zone, this free market space Will enable them not only trade daily basis but reduces prices for cunsumers” said Prince Ken Onye.
Hence, the Wuye Ultra-Modern B.O.T Market new management embarking on this capital-intensive project is born out of zeal to contribute their own quotas towards federal government economic diversification policy of using agriculture as alternative revenue generation and to meet set food security goals.
To do that and create enabling business environment, the WUMM( BOT) management in partnership with other concerned stakeholders tasked it upon themselves to make provision of free market space for local farmers in Abuja and neighboring states.
Their goal of making provision this free market space is to create market hub where farmers can bring fresh quality and affordable food stuffs to sell and where second-hand fashion wears marketers (bulk sellers) can bring their wares closer to buyers not only for Abuja residents but environs like Wuye residents too.
The Chairman NANTS- FCT Chapter, Prince Edozie Ugwu in his address, further explained that the foremost aim of NANTS and the New Facility Managers is to make life better for traders and farmers as well bring down the high cost of food stuffs and other related daily needs in the country.
However, This Special Monday Market (still in test run stage, commencing fully on the 27th of August 2018) is well-timed as it will kick-start as their traders are coming from the ID-EL-MALUD Celebration. A welcome gift to them.
