The Immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada on Tuesday received Blueprint Newspapers award for his peaceful leadership style and for his contributions to the development of Kogi state during his governorship tenure.

According to the citation, Captain Wada is a decorated aviation pilot with an enviable track record both in the aviation sector as a public servant and as a governor of the strategic Kogi state and that he led a government of effective leadership, bringing development to many parts of the state.
Captain Wada chose to serve as the Executive Governor of Kogi state at a time he was in full retirement, out of his love for the development of Kogi state and interests in helping implement sustainable solutions to the socioeconomic challenges of ordinary people. As a governor, Captain Wada showed extraordinary courage and belief in the Nigeria healthcare professionals, refusing to be flown abroad like his colleagues after a terrible road accident.
Prior to becoming governor, he spent more than three decades building a career as a pilot and entrepreneur. He utilized the skills obtained through several high level aviation management courses and training programs in Nigeria, Brazil, Germany, UK and USA to become a highly successful aviation aficionado over three decades. Captain Wada was a Chief Executive at Executive Aviation Services Nigeria Limited after rising through the ranks as Chief Pilot and General Manager at Nigeria Airways. He is also the Chairman of the Horizon Construction Company Limited.
Speaking after receiving the award, Wada appreciated the Blueprint Management for recognising his contributions to the state and national development and thanked them for according him the due recognition.
“I am grateful to blueprint, the management and the board, for the recognition of what I have done for my state as a governor and it is a task to do more and I will not forget to thank my administration team for their respective contributions, and thanks Kogi state people for giving me the mandate and supports and will do more if given another mandate”
You can see all the states occupied by PDP government are doing well and I have great confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will bounce back to power in the state and nation come 2019″.
Among other dignitaries that received awards were Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele and Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central.
