AIA governing council plans Annual African Icon Awards

The Governing Council of the Prestigious African Icon Awards (AIA), says it will hold her 5th Annual African Icon Awards on May 11, 2019 at the National Theatre in Accra, Ghana for African achievers.

The Chairman, Board Of Trustee, African Icon Awards, Prof. Akin Oyebode, made this known to newsmen in Abuja.

He said the award seeks to recognise selected individuals that have impacted greatly in Africa.

According to him, the African achievers carefully selected for this year award are considered as the best in the whole of Africa.

“African Icon Award team is working to help African Leaders to be more inclusive in their leadership style, by identifying innovative policies and practice.

“It is also aims to promote ideas that can create jobs for the youths, reduce youth restlessness, create an avenue for peace to strive while encouraging international integration.

“The Leadership Awards will have Security Experts, Leaders of Industry’s, Religious Fathers, Investor’s and Government Agencies.

“They will focus on topics that are aimed at encouraging Leadership by excellence, and identify sustainable human development and social projects,” he said.

The chairman also revealed that Prof. Ejiofor Emmanuel, Mrs Amai Mnangagwa, General Gowon, among others have been nominated for the 5th Africa Icon Awards 2019.

Oyebode said that the selection of Her Excellency, Mrs Auxillia Mnangagwa, First Lady, Republic of Zimbabwe is as a result of her efforts to empowering the rural woman and development projects over the years.

He further described Mnangagwa, as an agent of transformation and development who has done commendably well for her country Zimbabwe.

“I want to encourage our African Leaders to also emulate Prof. Ejiofor, he is a pure definition of decent Leadership in Africa.

“The Governing Council has carefully selected the most astonishing leaders that have excelled exceptionally well.

“The nomination of Chief Brown Tesigimoje, CEO Gimbrowns Marine Security Oil and Gas Limited, among other business mogul is in view of their unequivocal commitments to community projects.

“Other distinguished personalities to be honoured include, His Royal Highness, Prince Ebrahim, renowned Girl Child Education advocate, Matthew Obono, and Sir, Owen Taro,” he said.
