Senator Wabara Expresses Post Humous Gratitude To Late Senator Enwerem

Former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara of the fourth National Assembly expressed post humous appreciation to late Evans Enwerem for his roles in his becoming the fourth Nigeria Senate Assembly’s head and third important man in government Nigeria.
Senator Wabara made this revelation at the 10th year memorial lecture held in honour of former President of the Senate, late Senator Evan Enwerem, in Abuja.

He lauded and expressed his gratitude to late Senator Enwerem whom, he described as a man of integrity and architect of his political sojourn to Nigeria number three seat , Wabara said he became the Senate President because Enwere made him so, by not only stepping down for him but contributed in his eventual victory.
“I was brought in as a clean hub to replace Senator Pius Anyiam. Senator Enwerem is a man of integrity, and that’s what none will take away from him.
At the time, no one, including myself, would ever have guessed that I would emerged to the position of the Senate President. Late Evans Enwerem made it possible and, I will always be grateful to him”.
Former Nigerian Banking mogul, Adolphus Wabara went further to reveal that not only the role Enwerem played to his Senate victory, but how he shaped his political ideals, he cherished.
Further in his speech, he asserted that his historical resignation saved his life, and that he sacrificed his political career life to save the senate at the time.
It is of note that Senator Adolphus Wabara was elected to the Senate in 1999, and reelected in 2003. He was president of the Senate of Nigeria from 2003 to 2005. He was the first and the only Nigeria Senate President who voluntarily, resigned his position over mere allegations without any peculiar parliamentary dramas, an allegation after extended legal battles, on 1 June 2010, the charges dropped and, court held that the charges were bogus and failed to disclose prima facie cases against him.
The court held that the action of the federal government on the allegation was most embarrassing, barbaric and uncivilised because the Senator Wabara, accused had not made statements to any security agents before the broadcast trial and pronounced guilty. Justice Odili, the judge in charge of the case, said that, the accused person( Wabara) had no case to answer in law and consequently have him set free.
Wabara was elected the fourth Senate President of the Fourth Republic and that his tribulations on the third term agenda was linked to his roles in third agenda scuttle .
He promised to recipocate the same goodwill and kindness shown to him by the late congressman, to the family he left behind.
“I will be with Enwerem family till I go to meet him. I will not fail to tell God how this earth becomes better because of his maturity disposition. Let me tell you, during his lifetime, before you can come up with problem, he had already solved it. I misses his wise counsel. We miss you, Mr. Fix it. Rest well Mature Man”, he said.
