National Institution of High Ways and Transport Engineers, inaugurated Engr. Anaduka as the New National Chairman.

Engr. Obiekwe Gabriel Anaduka has been inaugurated as the 2nd National Chairman of National Institution of High ways and Transport Engineers at Nigeria Society of Engineers Auditorium, Abuja on 23rd February, 2017.

The Nigeria Institution of Highway Engineers( NIHTE) was established in 2013 with approval of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) council and registered as the 19th Division of NSE.

NIHTE is an institution formed and registered with the core objectives of catering for the professional needs of members in terms of enhancing high professional standards and ethical practices through periodic host of well structured programmes and also by regular interactions among different cadres membership.

On 23rd of february, 2017, Engr. Obiekwe Gabriel Anaduka was inaugurated as the 2nd National Chairman of National Institution of High ways and Transport Engineers; NIHTE.

Since its establishment the membership of Institution has grown from 500 members in 2013 (the size it started with) to above 500 members, presently.

With the accomodation of other Civil Engineering practitioners from Aviation, Marine and Railway sub-sectors in 2016, the new name was adopted NIHTE. The expansion many believed will go a long way in assisting the desired feel of the institution, across-all sections of the Nigeria..

Speaking with team of Journalists after the inauguration, the New NIHTE National Chairman, Engr. O.G Anaduaka, emphasised the content of the bill and how both institutional and legal operational framework of the bill will assist in raising adequate fundings for the transport sector as law is specific of how it should be done and it will help to create integrated transport system in Nigeria. He went further to explain on how the sector’s Privatisation gains that having given private sectors opportunity to steer the transport sector, that will now enable the government to concentrate more on what they know how to do best, putting enable policies in place and take back seat of regulator, meanwhile, implementors will be in better position to be implementing the policies.

The Newly inaugurated NIHTE Chairman, says, ” With the Monopoly out, and Private Participation in, Government can now concentrate in policy making and regulatory, implementors will work hard on its implementations”.

He went on to explain the impacts the newly passed bill will make in all spheres of the economy. He commended the efforts and swiftness taken by the present National Assembly members to ensure that this much awaited bill which has been on table since 1971, be passed, he believed the bill will usher in an integrated transport system in Nigeria.

“This bill has long been expected, having been there since 1971, all efforts to review the transport sector has been failing, and for the present National Assembly ability to pass this bill so fast, they have done well and one has to commend them,” he said.

On his mission statement, the New chairman pledged to consolidate and grow NIHTE Division to heights as well supports the vision and mission of current President of NSE towards the professionalization of the society.

The newly inaugurated. National Chairman of NIHTE, Engr. Anaduaka. at the event inaugurated 2017, 11 National Executive Committee. The Crew members who will sail with him to steer the affairs of NIHTE to attain sustainable goals and growth.
